AHF FC
Club Philosophy

At AHF FC we will provide an opportunity for all children to engage in football to achieve their full potential. We will work hard to create a fun and enjoyable environment that allows every child to develop individually. Every child will be part of the clubs long-term player development programme, to create quality grassroot footballers with a confident approach in dealing with all situations in any position during a game.

Football Philosophy

As a club we understand and appreciate the importance of children being allowed to develop their skills to become positive footballers. Children will be encouraged from an early stage to play and enjoy having the ball. We will place a high importance on individual technical skills so our players can be competent game players. Children will require time and patience to develop in their own unique way. This will be achieved by creating an environment which places greater importance on developing and not winning. The club player development programme will help players develop their game craft and football intelligence, to make decisions to play in the larger formats of the game. Children will be encouraged to be respectful, take ownership of their own learning, to develop leadership skills and grow to become positive productive British citizens.

Playing Philosophy

“To play positive attacking football in order to dominate play”

5-a-side: Children will be encouraged to be positive, develop individual technical skill so they can be expressive in all situations against any opponent or a number of opponents whilst developing an understanding of formations and positions.

7-a-side: Children will be encouraged to be individually expressive using Pass & Dribble techniques, develop an understanding of how to use space to show a desire to want the ball. Develop a greater understanding of formations and roles and responsibilities of various positions.

Under 7s:

  • Develop individual technical skill so every playerl has the confidence, skills and creativity to manipulate out of or away from any situation (any opponent, any number of opponents OR position on a pitch).
  • Develop an ability to strike the ball to help them with the next phase of work at U8’s. Individuals will be encouraged to strike the ball when in good positions near the goal. If you can get your head up, allow opportunities to pass the ball.
  • Understanding of simple formations of 1-Diamond OR 1-Box trying to work in their areas of the pitch.

Under 8s:

  • Continue to use individual technical skill to display confidence and creativity to manipulate out of or away from any situation whilst trying to play with their head up.
  • Use Dribble Or Pass techniques to try and work the ball in small units of 2-3 players to help work the ball or create attacking opportunities.
  • Greater understanding of simple formations with some understanding of roles and responsibilities in various positions.

Under 9s:

  • Use individual technical skill with your head up to have an overview of the game or team situation, recognise when to Pass & Dribble to try and dominate play and build positive attacks.
  • Understanding of 1-2-3-1 formation whilst continuing to develop a greater understanding of roles and responsibilities in various positions GK (1st Attacker), RB, LB, CM, LM, RM, S.
  • Understanding of how to use space to find positions to always show a desire to want the ball.

Under 10s:

  • Use Pass & Dribble techniques to help dominate play and build attacks whilst continuing to use individual technical skill when possible.
  • Understanding of 1-2-3-1 formation with each player having a good understanding of roles and responsibilities of various positions GK (1st Attacker), RB, LB, CM, LM, RM, S.
  • Understanding of how to use space to find positions to always show a desire to want the ball.
